Canada Pension Plan (CPP) – Survivor Pension and Child(ren)’s Benefits
The CPP provides survivor benefits to eligible survivors or to the estate of a deceased contributor who has made enough contributions to the CPP. CPP takes three forms:
Death benefit: A one-time payment to, or on behalf of, the estate of a deceased CPP contributor.
Survivor’s pension: A monthly benefit paid to a deceased contributor’s surviving spouse or common-law partner if the survivor meets the eligibility requirements.
Child(ren)’s benefits: A monthly benefit for dependent children of a deceased contributor.
